Why Thanos in Endgame was more relatable than Infinity War?

A movie is more excellent if its villain is as relatable as its hero. We have seen many villains in movies who are as popular as heroes. Darth Vader, Loki, Joker, Voldemort, Magneto, and Thanos are some of the most popular villains of all time. MCU had problems with their villain in the past but they have recovered a lot in Phase 4 with Hela, Vulture, and Thanos. Thanos has recorded his name in the history book as one of the best villains of all time. In Avengers Infinity War, Thanos was way too powerful for Avengers but in EndGame he was more relatable and vulnerable.

Thanos first appeared in MCU in The Avengers. The attack in New York was a part of his plan. Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Age of Ultron further teased his presence and threat in MCU. The mad titan was finally prepared to collect the stones in Avengers Infinity War. There were some discussion on why Thanos didn’t collect the stones before. Some pointed out it was because of Odin or the Ancient one. But the reality was he never knew where the soul stone was. So Thanos had to wait until Gamora found the location of the stone.

In Avengers Infinity War, Thanos was way too powerful. With Stones in his gauntlet, he was able to fulfill his destiny. Doctor Strange, Thor, and Scarlet Witch might have given Thanos a strong competition but they were never close to defeating him. The Avengers nearly took the gauntlet from Thanos in titan but Star-Lord screwed up. Thor was very close to killing the mad titan but he didn’t aim for the head. Despite being severely injured, he was able to fulfill his destiny and wipe out half the population to bring balance in the universe. Thanos in infinity war had a Shakespeare vibe and he believed he was saving the grateful universe.

However, things were a little different for Thanos in Avengers Endgame. The injured Thanos was living his life as a farmer. The Avengers found him and attacked. Realizing Thanos destroyed the stones, Thor finally went for the head. I felt sorry for Thanos at the scene. The whole theater was dead silent and didn’t know what was coming. Fortunately, a lot of Thanos was still left in the movie and I was more than excited to see him back.

Thanos was not only brutal in Avengers EndGame but was very skillful as well. The 2014 Thanos in the final battle was just mesmerizing and powerful. The mad titan used Nebula to go forward in future to collect the stones for him. Nebula used the Quantum tunnel to bring Thanos and his army to future to battle the Avengers. In the final battle, Thanos used Tony to block Thor hammer. He didn’t have any infinity stones and yet he was able to hold the Avengers. The best part of Thanos in Avengers EndGame is his vulnerability. He was nearly Killed by Scarlet Witch. Yes, In Infinity War, Wanda was able to hold Thanos back with five infinity stones but it was different in Endgame. He was worried that Wanda might kill him, thus requested rain fire. Captain Marvel gave Thanos a hard time. The mad titan looked a little afraid and shocked when Captain Marvel first showed up in the final battle. He had to use the power stone to get rid of her which showed his skill and presence of mind.

Avengers Endgame not only showed Thanos true power but his character. After Tony Stark snapped his finger, Thanos realized he has been defeated. He admitted his defeat and layed down. He realized he could not fulfill his destiny and lost. Thanos has written his name in a history book and is undoubtedly one of the greatest comic book villain of all time. Personally, Thanos was more relatable in Avengers EndGame in Infinity War for me.
