Why D23 might be as big as Comic-Con for Marvel fans?

“The End is always followed by a new beginning.” It’s been the story for Marvel since 2008. Avengers Endgame closed the infinity saga and concluded the story arc of our favorite characters. Now, its time to look beyond Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Marvel slam-dunked the Comic-Con panel with some exciting announcement and some shocker. Now fans are eyeing to get some exciting announcement on D23. I have zero doubts that D23 will be as big as Comic-con for Marvel fans.

Why don’t we rewind Marvel phase 4 slot before jumping into D23? Eternals, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Black Widow and Thor 4 were the movies announced at Comic-con. There were some television shows announced as well which will directly tie into the movies.

Disney is doing their best to give Netflix a strong challenge in Streaming market. Mahershala Ali as Blade was the most shocking announcement at the panel. Natalie Portman was trending everywhere when she was announced to play female Thor. Marvel Phase 4 looks more diverse, inclusive and fresh.

Kevin Feige didn’t have any time to talk about various projects at Comic-Con Panel. There was no announcement for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, New Avengers and many more. Disney is desperate to make D23 their own Comic-Con. So, Kevin Feige and Alan Horn might be keeping something for Disney’s biggest party.

There was a slight mention to Captain Marvel 2. The first movie made over a billion-dollar at the box office. The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directorial created a huge buzz both positively and “negatively.” The toxic fandom slowly buried in the ground after its massive opening weekend.

Kevin Feige played a key role in hyping Captain Marvel. Feige revealed she was the most powerful Marvel character and will be the leader of MCU after Avengers Endgame. Captain Marvel was perfectly used in Avengers Endgame and was an ace in the hole. She was handled perfectly by Russo brothers. I think the sequel needs a new director to make the movie as big as the first one.

Another big project Feige mentioned was Black Panther 2. The tenth highest-grossing movie of all time made over 1.344 billion dollars worldwide. Kilmonger is probably the second-best Marvel villain after Thanos. The movie was a cultural significance and was the first black cast superhero movie.

Black Panther became the first comic book movie to be nominated for best picture at the Academy. The character has gained massive popularity worldwide. There have been some rumors of Namor joining the sequel. Ryan Coogler is returning to write and direct the sequel.

Apart from Black Panther and Captain Marvel 2, Kevin Feige mentioned Fantastic Four. Fantastic Four has been rebooted multiple times but Fox has yet to hit the bull’s eye. I would love to see Marvel get Doctor Doom right once. There were some reports on Payton Reed being considered to direct a fantastic four movie. I would love to see John Krasinski and Emily Blunt join the MCU.

Apart from these projects, Mutants was also discussed. Marvel will reboot X-Men again which might be little over the top for some audience. The debacle of Dark Phoenix makes it more difficult for Marvel to reboot the franchise. D23 might be a perfect opportunity to discuss Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 as well. There are still lots of exciting news to come for Marvel fans.

Spread the love
